Testimonial - F32 435d xdrive - B4x Sport Suspension - Mr Cherrill

Hi Kevin,

How are things with you?

Sorry, I meant to get back to you way sooner with thoughts on the updated suspension.  I was hoping for a break in the weather so I could push the car a bit, but we've had endless crap weather down here ever since, either biblical rain or arctic deep freeze.

Overall, I really love the setup, without doubt, the best after-market setup I've had on a car for all round balance of ride, composure and control.  The bit I still can't really fathom is the impact the bump stops seem to have had on ride quality.  Around town, the car is firm but supple and seems to have something pretty special going on over small bumps and nadgery bits.  It's good at speed too and feels properly settled and reassuring when pushed a bit.  The feel at the front is responsive, although my gut feel is that there isn't quite the immediacy of bite, feel and tenacity that the car had at the first stage, after replacement of springs and roll bars with stock dampers.  Not a big deal for me, just an observation.

I haven't yet had the chance to drive it in earnest on twisty, gnarly roads I usually use to get an impression of a car, but the overall feel is great.  Such a transformation from stock, a huge step forward from the half-way setup I had for a few months.  The bit that really matters is that the car feels really good to drive now and I look forward to getting in it.  I'll drop you a line when I get the chance to drive a bit harder on some local back roads.

Thanks for sorting the car out.  To me, this is how any higher-spec BMW should drive.  Still can't understand why BMW don't do something like this out of the box, as it's clear that all the foundations are there.  It wouldn't cost them much, the average non-enthusiast driver wouldn't be offended in the slightest and people who like driving would all be smiling.

Regards,

Dave
